What is their background story?:
These two were rescued by our Bird Coordinator after she saw them posted for free on a site. Worried they would not find an appropriate family she worked hard to get them into our bird knowledgeable rescue. They came in scared, confused, and in some rough shape. One has a birth defect in their foot and the other has some feathers missing. They are healing well in the rescue and are being cared for by our best bird people. With some love and treats they are coming out of their shells. They are very excited to finally be able to stretch their wings and live cage free.
What is their favourite activity?:
Mellow Yellow is a very curious little guy. He loves to watch all the other birds in his foster home doing their daily routines. He also loves to talk and update his human on the day she missed.
Little Princess is very relaxed and loves to eat, fly and hang out with the other birds in the house especially one of the cockatiels.

Both Mellow and Princess LOVE Budgie Seed Mix
What is their best trait?:
Both birds are some of the smartest we've had in the rescue. They know exactly what to do and where to go at night. Mellow Yellow is also one of the sweetest birds we've ever met. He is the peacemaker in the home. Little is the social butterfly in the house and loves to catch up on the gossip with the other birds.
Final Thoughts:
These two are complete love bugs. They would do best in a home where they could fly free to their heart's content. They are very social and love other birds. A home with other birds would be a plus for these two!
Birds often end up in homes not prepared for the care they require. Ads that post animals for free often attract people without the best intentions. Please educate yourself about this complex species, or any animal that peaks your interest before adopting them. If you do need to rehome your pet, please reach out to your local shelter. Many shelters have great information on their sites on how to find good homes for animals you are trying to adopt out.

What is their background story?:
Gru had been owned previously for about 6 months. The owned got another degu. They thought both were the same sex. They had babies and unfortunately the female died. Leaving Gru and his babies. The owner ended up giving the babies away to a rattery. They didn't want Gru. Degus make really great parents too. So Gru came to All Creatures to hopefully find some male companions.
What is their favourite activity?:
He loves to sleep in his hammock. In the day time he will spin on his wheel.
What is their favourite food?:
Crocks (no not the shoe but a tasty green treat)
What is their best trait?:
He comes up to the cage anytime someone enters the room. He zooms up and down in his cage. He also loves to be scratched. When degus are scratched they fall to one side and smile.
Final thoughts:
Gru loves to be pet and have the attention on him. He loves to be pet but not picked up.
